Steel properties
ALTA 1.2842 steel is a Manganese–chrome–vanadium steel with the middle hardenability for hardening in oil, particularly good dimensional stability at the heat treatment, good resistance to the wear and cutting power. Considerable sensitivity to cooling by water during the hardening and tempering, good polishability, good ductility at the heat and good workability in the annealed state.
Applications
² Various precision measuring tools, templates, block gauges, dies
² Precision screws and grinder spindles requiring small deformation and high wear resistance
² Smaller punching dies, cold pressing dies, cold heading dies, engraving dies, blanking dies
² Slitting knife … etc.
