Steel properties
ALTA 1.2631 is a medium carbon, air-hardening tool steel that is characterized by a combination of very good toughness and wear resistance, and excellent dimensional stability in heat treatment. Has been used for punches that operate in the 55 to 60 Rockwell C hardness range. More toughness than 1.2363 or 1.2379, More wear resistance than 1.2357, very stable in heat treatment.
