Hot work tool steel
ALTA 1.2365 Tool Steel Specification
Steel properties
ALTA 1.2365 steel comes with lesser content of carbon C%, chromium Cr% compared with ALTA 1.2343 / H11 steel, ALTA 1.2344 / H13 steel, but greatly increased molybdenum Mo% which brings very high hot hardness (red hardness) and resistance against thermal fatigue cracking (heat-cracking). It's an ideal material for die closed and open-die forging.
It can be also used as structural parts for aircraft, rockets and other heat-resistant operating temperatures of ~ 400 to 500°C.
Applications
² Die-casting molds (copper alloy, brass etc)
² Tools for hot cutting, for cutting thorns and trimming dies
