ALTA 1.2746 Tool Steel Specification
Steel properties
ALTA 1.2746 (45NiCrMoV16-16) is similar as ALTA 1.2767. With its high nickel content, this material offers a very good combination of through hardenability and toughness. Additional alloying with vanadium and molybdenum achieves higher resistance to abrasive wear. This material is used where high resistance to impact and shock loads is required and the wear resistance of a 1.2767 material is insufficient. The material is used in applications such as highly stressed industrial knives in the recycling industry.
Applications
² Cold cutting knives, scrap knives, industrial cutting knife/blades
² Highly stressed tools for cold punching, pressing of plastics, big breeze blocks and harden
² Thick plate stamping die, tableware mold, large size blanking die, hot forging dies, embossing dies
** Suggests during further cutting or machining processing
1. Cutting at slower speed rates, or go with hard alloy made saw blade
2. Spray a small amount of engine oil on the steel surface during machining work
